DRC : President Félix Tshisekedi prioritizes peace and mediation in the eastern region

The Congolese President, Félix Tshisekedi, has recently expressed his absolute priority for peace, especially in light of the delicate situation in eastern DRC.

He emphasized that prioritizing peace is a much wiser approach than resorting to war. Despite provocations attributed to Kigali and accusations of support for the M23, the Congolese President insists on the path of dialogue.

He also mentioned the mediation efforts led by the Angolan President, João Lourenço, appointed by the African Union to resolve the crisis between the DRC and Rwanda. He fervently hopes that this mediation will lead to an agreement that will bring peace to the eastern part of his country.

In his own words, President Félix Tshisekedi stated: « My priority is peace. I want lasting peace for my country and my people. That’s why I’m ready to set aside my ambitions for war and give peace a chance. If we can achieve peace without resorting to war, I will gladly sign with both hands ».

This statement underscores the Congolese President’s commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts and stability in the region. By opting for dialogue and mediation rather than military actions, President Tshisekedi demonstrates his determination to find peaceful solutions to regional tensions.

His leadership in this area helps build trust among neighboring countries and promotes regional cooperation to ensure the security and well-being of the populations in the region.
