Burkina Faso : Focus on President Ibrahim Traoré’s exchange with civil society on national issues

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Transition and Head of State, held an important meeting with representatives of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the 13 regions of the country. This meeting was marked by constructive dialogue around the challenges facing the nation and the measures taken by the Transition to address them.

Firstly, the representatives of CSOs expressed their congratulations to the President of the Transition for the actions taken towards the reconquest of national territory.

The reorganization of the army, the equipping of combat forces, and the successes recorded on the ground were hailed as decisive steps towards restoring security and stability in the country. Furthermore, they highlighted efforts to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their original localities.

However, beyond these successes, CSO representatives also shared the concerns of their respective communities. They emphasized the need to invest more in the economic and social development of the regions, focusing on the creation of local businesses, the implementation of hydro-agricultural developments, and the construction of road infrastructure.

According to them, these measures will not only stimulate the local economy but also provide employment opportunities for youth and strengthen social cohesion in the regions.

In response to these legitimate concerns, the Head of State reaffirmed the Transition’s firm commitment to meeting the expectations of the population and continuing its efforts for inclusive and sustainable development. He promised to pay special attention to the demands of CSOs and to work closely with them to find solutions to the country’s challenges.

Furthermore, Captain Ibrahim Traoré also addressed the issue of the withdrawal of countries from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). He explained that this decision aimed to strengthen regional cooperation in the fight against terrorism, a scourge that threatens the stability of the entire Sahelian region.

The President of the Transition affirmed the determination of the Alliance countries to vigorously combat this scourge and work together to ensure the security and well-being of the populations.

In conclusion, this meeting between the Head of State and representatives of civil society highlighted the importance of dialogue and collaboration in building a better future for the country. It shed light on the challenges to be addressed and the actions to be taken to meet the aspirations of the population and ensure peace and prosperity for all.
