Burkina Faso : 447 Tons of fine charcoal to be processed in Ouagadougou

If Burkina Faso’s economy is doing well despite the ECOWAS embargo, it’s thanks to several measures and initiatives undertaken by President Ibrahim Traoré to ensure its resilience. On Friday, Minister of Mines and Quarries Yacouba Zabré Goubace visited the industrial zone of Kossodo to observe the unloading of all the shipments of fine coal.

In total, 650 bags, equivalent to 447 tons of fine coal, were transported by 17 trucks from Bobo Dioulasso to Ouagadougou.

« This follows the decisions of the last council of ministers, which took a number of decisions including the transfer of these shipments from Bobo to Ouagadougou », said Mines Minister Yacouba Zabré Gouba.

These decisions are part of the report relating to the execution of transactional agreements in the so-called « Fine Coal » dossier adopted on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in the council of ministers.

« In accordance with the decisions of the council of ministers, the chief official in charge of mines and quarries reassured that ‘given the nature of this product and the difficult situation our country is going through, all fines and products resulting from the treatment of fine coal will be paid to the benefit of the state budget », the minister said.

Yacouba Zabré Gouba also recalled that there were other decisions that the council of ministers had to make, such as going towards the signing of an agreement with the company Golden Hand, which should ultimately allow for the treatment of this fine coal.

As is often said, real development comes through actions like these. It is important that the treatment process be strict and well-respected in order to boost the economy of Burkina Faso.

President Ibrahim Traoré inaugurated the mining residue treatment plant on January 23, 2024. Thanks to this plant, all mining residues and coal from mining operations should be treated in Burkina Faso.
