Benin : Authorities announce the dissolution of ABERME founded on April 30, 2009

The authorities intend to dissolve the Beninese Rural Electrification and Energy Management Agency (ABERME). Henceforth, the activities and assets of this agency will be transferred to other entities.

The Beninese government’s decision to dissolve ABERME aims to streamline efforts in the energy sector and strengthen coordination among various relevant institutions.

According to the dissolution decree issued by the government, the activities and assets of ABERME are now transferred to the Beninese Electric Energy Company, the Agency for the Control of Interior Electrical Installations, and the Directorate of Energy Planning, Rural Electrification, and Regulation.

Ellen Tognisso Adjahi, a chartered accountant, is appointed to oversee the liquidation process of the Agency as the liquidator. She has been tasked with successfully completing the liquidation within a period of 6 months.

« In accordance with the decree, she must present a detailed roadmap outlining the working methodology and intervention modalities, subject to validation by an interministerial committee overseeing the liquidation, » the government stated.

Additionally, Ellen Tognisso Adjahi is required to provide periodic progress reports on the liquidation operations, as per the defined periodicity in the roadmap.

At the end of her mission, she must also present a closure report to the interministerial committee overseeing the liquidation.

The authorities has also established an interministerial committee overseeing the liquidation, consisting of a representative from the Ministry of Finance, a representative from the Ministry of Energy, and a representative from the Bureau of Analysis and Investigation.
