Burkina Faso : A New Chapter in Educational Cooperation Under Captain Ibrahim Traoré

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is resolutely pursuing its quest for international partnerships to promote the well-being of its people. A significant example of this commitment recently manifested in the meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla and a delegation from Moscow’s Synergy University on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Ouagadougou.

The delegation, led by Synergy Corporation President Vadim Lobov, presented to the Prime Minister the activities, scope, and prospects of Synergy University. This Moscow-based institution adopts a full-time education model, covering an educational spectrum from kindergarten to higher education.

Vadim Lobov emphasized that Synergy University, in addition to its commitment to education, incorporates a business school and an academy, making it comprehensive. Currently, it has over 200.000 students, with nearly 10% being international students, demonstrating its international reach.

The institution also houses an impressive variety of more than 300 faculties, covering a wide range of academic disciplines. Rooted in a comprehensive vision, Synergy University is built on three major pillars of collaboration : education, entrepreneurship, and patriotism.

However, Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla expressed legitimate concerns. He raised the challenge of the language of instruction, considering that the Russian language is not widespread in Burkina Faso. Additionally, he addressed the issue of travel, noting that no airline currently connects Burkina Faso directly to Russia since Aeroflot discontinued its flights.

In response, Vadim Lobov acknowledged the validity of the Prime Minister’s concerns. He highlighted that his country already has experience in collaboration and expressed the desire to activate this cooperation quickly.

This meeting marks a significant step toward enhanced cooperation between Burkina Faso and Synergy University in Moscow. The Burkinabe government is open to exploring new educational and entrepreneurial opportunities, underscoring its commitment to the socio-economic development of the country.
