Putin is going to take part in the 2024 presidential election

Vladimir Putin is participating in the 2024 presidential election. This was reported to journalists by participants in an exchange with the Russian President, which took place after the ceremony held at the Kremlin on the occasion of the Day of Heroes of the Fatherland.

A corresponding request was made to Mr. Putin by the head of the parliament of the People’s Republic of Donetsk, Artiom Joga, and the Russian President responded affirmatively, as indicated by participants in this meeting.

President Putin’s current term as head of state expires on May 7, 2024. The next presidential election in Russia is scheduled for March 17.

According to the latest survey by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM), Putin’s popularity rating is at 78.5%, and the level of approval for his activities is at 75.8%. The survey was conducted from November 27 to December 3 among 1.600 adult Russians.

The Federation Council (the upper house of the Russian parliament) adopted a resolution the previous day setting the Russian presidential election for March 17, 2024. According to the Electoral Commission, the Russian presidential election will take place for the first time over three days, from March 15 to March 17, 2024.
