Twitter:  Why was the iconic blue bird replaced by a «doge»?

It’s no longer a scoop that the social network Twitter has been owned by the billionaire Elon Musk since October 2022. Last Monday, the blue bird that symbolized it until now was changed to a dog. Whether you’re a “Twitto” (Twitter user) or not, you’re probably wondering why the boss of Tesla and SpaceX has traded the sweet chirping of a bird for the barking of a dog. Indeed, the logo change is a very strategic choice made by Elon Musk. A choice that not only allows him to clearly show his position and strengthen it, but also to divert attention at a time when he is involved in a financial matter. The billionaire is accused in court of manipulating the price of Dogecoin.

It is obvious that Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency with many advantages. Among others, we can mention its speed, its exemption from fees, and its excellent market capitalization. So, it is rightly that Elon Musk has made it his favorite cryptocurrency. Indeed, since 2021, he has been pulling the strings and greasing the wheels of this encrypted currency, recognized for its accessibility, especially in terms of price. This, with the intention of maximizing profit.

Everything indicates that he has finally taken action. Or at least, that is what his plaintiffs have claimed. They accuse the entrepreneur of participating in inflating the price of the dogecoin « by over 36,000% over the past two years before letting it crash. » They therefore demand compensation of $258 billion from him. Of course, Elon Musk has not recognized the legitimacy of this complaint.

So, to calm down the fuss around this story, which is certainly not good for his image and his business, and also to promote this cryptocurrency, Elon Musk had the idea of putting the doge referring to Dogecoin in the Twitter logo. By doing this, he has refocused the debates and the curiosity of Internet users towards another subject, which is the change of the Twitter logo.

So now you know. The change in Twitter’s logo is not a joke, nor a late April Fools’ prank, nor a change of taste. It is an act motivated by financial and economic aspirations.
