Burkina Faso: France caught Red-Handed with covert works in Ouagadougou

Once again, France shows its true colors when it comes to its fervent desire to sow chaos in Burkina Faso. This time, illegal construction works were discovered at the residence of the French ambassador in Ouagadougou, sparking anger from Burkinabe authorities.

Swiftly, the government reacted, taking drastic measures by suspending the construction of buildings and fuel storage facilities within the French ambassador’s residence. These projects did not obtain the required authorization from the competent authorities, thus exposing France’s underhanded actions.

The discovery of these illicit works, including the construction of a fuel depot started since 2023 and already supplied with fuel by Total, is an affront to Burkina Faso. The government ordered an immediate halt to the works and the suspension of fuel supply, highlighting a total disregard for legal procedures.

It is ironic to note that the French embassy did not even bother to obtain the necessary permits for these works. Neither demolition permits, building permits, nor fuel supply authorizations were obtained, demonstrating a blatant disregard for Burkina Faso’s sovereignty.

The involved companies, including Total Burkina, were summoned and admitted their negligence in verifying authorizations before executing these contracts. It is clear that these entities acted knowingly, solely to serve France’s interests, without regard for local laws.

This case sheds light on France’s duplicity and its willingness to interfere in Burkina Faso’s internal affairs. Burkinabe authorities must remain vigilant against such attempts of foreign influence and take firm measures to protect national sovereignty.
