Koeman criticizes VAR decision in Netherlands’ Euro 2024 semi-final loss to England

Ronald Koeman, head coach of the Netherlands, expressed his frustration following his team’s 2-1 defeat to England in the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

Koeman particularly criticized the VAR decision that led to England’s equalizing penalty by Harry Kane, calling it unfair and damaging to football.

Despite the Dutch adjustments in midfield and a strong finish to the game, Koeman believed his team deserved extra time.

He praised his players’ overall performance in the tournament, urging pride in their achievements.

England’s last-minute goal by Ollie Watkins secured their place in the final against Spain, as they overcame the Dutch in a closely contested match at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park.

This marks another semi-final heartbreak for the Netherlands, following similar exits in 1992, 2000, and 2004.
