Burkina Faso : Authorities work towards easy access to quality healthcare services and care
Concerned about the health well-being of the population, especially the less privileged, and to facilitate their access to quality health services and care, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and his government have acted positively and strategically, as is their usual practice.
By significantly reducing and completely removing certain hospital fees for public health facilities, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and his government team are providing vulnerable groups with easy access to quality healthcare.
Starting from the month of May, the new tariffs set by the council of ministers for certain health services will be implemented. Indeed, the council has decided to reduce the cost of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exams by 50%, which will decrease from 50.000 FCFA to 25.000 FCFA, starting from the end of April, in public hospitals, regardless of location, costs, and technique.
Regarding MRI exams, according to Burkina Faso’s Minister of Health, Robert Lucien Jean Claude KARGOUGOU, the average costs in public hospitals amount to 100.000 FCFA. They will now be reduced by 60% to 40,000 FCFA at the end of April.
As for the lifetime deposit for dialysis-related medical procedures, set at 500.000 FCFA, the council has decided to eliminate it. Additionally, patients who require three dialysis sessions per week will no longer have to pay for these sessions. Those who paid 15.000 FCFA will now pay 2.500 FCFA per session.
This commendable and beneficial action perfectly aligns with the vision of the head of state, which aims to ensure that all Burkinabe citizens have equitable access to quality healthcare services and care.
