Burkina Faso : Thanks to the dynamic team led by Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, unemployment will decline

In Burkina Faso, the unemployment rate is expected to experience a significant decline in the coming years, thanks to the dynamism and enlightened vision of the transitional president and head of state, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, and his governmental team.

The recent decisions regarding the recruitment of civil servants in the public sector and those in the entrepreneurship sector come at the right time, enabling the country’s authorities to effectively address the currently high unemployment rate in the land of the upright people. For example, in 2023, according to a report from the WFP, the unemployment rate in Burkina Faso stood at 41.1% of the population in 2020.

Aware of the danger that unemployment poses to society as a whole and to the fight against terrorism, the authorities are taking necessary measures. The government plans to recruit a large number of personnel for ministerial departments through competitive exams, totaling 5,364 employees for the year 2024 alone.

This is not counting specific recruitments as needed. The Burkinabe state also plans to recruit, train, and support youth in entrepreneurship in specific areas, according to the conclusions of the council of ministers on Wednesday, March 13th. Additionally, students who have already engaged in the agricultural sector will be supported by the government.

The idea is to boost them to enable them to thrive in their activities and attract many other young people. This strategy by the Burkinabe government, coupled with the policy of recruiting volunteers for the defense of the territory (VDP), will, in a few years, drastically reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

These actions are to be encouraged and supported by the population since they ultimately help prevent unemployed youth from engaging in vices or, worse, associating with terrorists. Reducing unemployment is also an effective means to reduce poverty, strengthen social cohesion, promote personal fulfillment, and thus restore peace and accelerate effective and sustainable development.
