DRC : Evaluation of the humanitarian situation in North Kivu, a government mission has visited the area

On Friday, March 1st, 2024, a government mission aimed at assessing the humanitarian situation of displaced persons visited the province of North Kivu. « Given the extent of the multifaceted consequences created by this situation, a government delegation, expanded to include national deputies elected from this part of the Republic, will travel to Goma in accordance with the recommendation of the 116th meeting of the Council of Ministers to provide government support », said government spokesperson Patrick Muyaya.

According to the government, the Minister of Social Affairs, Actions, and National Solidarity, along with a strong delegation of national deputies from North Kivu, were invited to a working session to find ways to address the deteriorating security situation in the East of the country, particularly in the province of North Kivu.

This meeting not only allowed for an assessment of the humanitarian situation in this part of the territory but also identified priority areas for action in assisting populations affected by the Rwandan aggression through its proxy terrorists of the M23. « This meeting also highlighted other issues, including the issue of covering participation fees for final year students in state exams, for provinces under a state of siege, to alleviate the burdens of parents who are already facing a difficult situation », Minister Muyaya added.

It should be noted that in order for all agreements to be immediately implemented, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Primary, Secondary, and Technical Education (EPST) were instructed to study the feasibility of this government’s expressed willingness and to make a recommendation.
