Burkina Faso: President Nana Akufo-Addo is playing the toutologue by trying to drive a wedge between Faso’s partners.

The enemies of peace in Burkina Faso, it seems, are many. The Ghanaian Head of State, Nana Akufo-Addo, who is responsible for the destabilisation of Ghana’s economy, has just been added to this category of individuals.

On Wednesday 14 December, at the US-Africa summit that began this week in Washington, the President accused his neighbour Burkina Faso of having “made an arrangement” with the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, who are already present in the south of Faso and are receiving a mine as payment. Following these remarks, Ghana’s ambassador to Burkina Faso, Boniface Gambila Adagbila, was summoned to an “urgent hearing” on Friday 16 December 2022 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Faso, to provide evidence of the accusation of his Head of State.

Despite the fact that Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of the Burkinabe transition, is taking the soil by the horns, to free his people from territorial insecurity, some of his fellows, having no notion of the suffering of a people destabilised by ”terrorism”, are trying to stir up trouble to give themselves the rank of supervisor by making ultra-repidarianism. It is clear that this statement by the Ghanaian president is intended to sully the image of Faso before the American people.

Why would the transitional government (MPSR) seek the support of the private Russian company Wagner, when it is giving its all to bring the transition to a successful conclusion, together with the FDS and the VDP, as well as patriotic actions? The Minister Delegate in charge of Regional Cooperation has just expressed the disapproval of the Government of Burkina Faso of these accusatory statements of the Head of State of Ghana.

Ambassador Boniface Gambila Adagbila, summoned by the Burkina Faso Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the sidelines of the accusations made against Burkina Faso by the Ghanaian Head of State, Nana Akufo-Addo, during the US-Africa summit, said that his president’s statements were not intended to condemn Burkina Faso, nor to sow doubt in people’s minds. However, the intention was to attract the attention of partners in order to create a strong interest in Burkina Faso.
