Burkina Faso/Gaoua: Captain TRAORE comforts and exhorts the FDS and the VDP

In Gaoua, the Head of State and President of the Transition in Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, boosted the morale of the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) in the south-west region of Burkina Faso. He also urged them to be prepared for any eventuality.

This was during his visit to Gaoua in the south-west region of the country, to launch construction work on the region’s university hospital centre.

At the Gaoua National Fire Brigade barracks, the FDS and VDP listened attentively to Captain Ibrahim TRAORE’s words of encouragement, congratulations and call to vigilance.

For Captain Ibrahim Traore, the war against terrorists is not over, and is currently in full swing on all fronts.

After congratulating them on their bravery and the work they do on a daily basis in the region, the President of the Transition invited the valiant fighters to remain mobilised, determined and ready for any possible attack, given what happened most recently in Djibo.

For the President of the Transition, the South-West is one of the regions where the fighting forces have done a remarkable job in pushing back the terrorist hydra.

Captain Ibrahim Traore took the opportunity to pay tribute to the resilience and determination of the people of the South-West, as demonstrated by the massive number of DPVs enrolled.

According to the Head of State, measures have been taken to increase the number of troops and combat equipment for the FDS and VDP in order to eliminate terrorism from their borders.

He also announced that rapid intervention battalions (BIR) would be set up in Gaoua in the south-west and Banfora in the Cascades, in addition to the one already operational in Bobo-Dioulasso in the Hauts-Bassins.
