DRC 2023 Presidential Election: Outgoing President Félix Tshisekedi Starts Campaign with Determination
With the opening on Sunday, November 19, of the electoral campaign for the 2023 presidential election, numerous candidates are vigorously campaigning in the major cities of the country to persuade the electorate ahead of the December 20th polling day.
Dressed in white as a tribute to his father and accompanied by his wife, Tshisekedi bowed at his father’s grave in Nsele to seek his blessing, showcasing a connection that goes beyond mere biology. Right from the start of his electoral campaign, Félix Tshisekedi has taken a combative stance, surrounded by his political allies, including Jean-Pierre Bemba, Sama Lukonde, Bahati Lukwebo, Mboso Nkodia, Vital Kamerhe, and Augustin Kabuya.
The incumbent president expressed an unprecedented determination: «Nothing wrong will happen to you as long as I am here. I will never stop loving you, and I am even willing to give my life for you», he declared.
With renewed energy, the outgoing President claimed mastery of the issues and a deep affection for his country. He pointed out the obstacles encountered in fulfilling his electoral promises, accusing the previous coalition of delaying these advancements.
Felix Tshisekedi denounced from the very first day of his campaign the candidates receiving support from foreign powers, warning them against attempts to keep the nation in servitude. The outgoing President specifically accused Paul Kagame of instigating violence in the North Kivu region. This strong statement signifies a clear break in relations with the Rwandan President, stating that they will only meet in heaven to be held accountable to God.
His vision, rooted in love and the protection of his people, can only inspire hope and optimism for the future of Congo. Challenges remain abundant, but with such a committed and daring leader, it is undeniable that the country is on the path to progress and prosperity. The Congolese people can now look to the future with confidence, knowing they are supported by a President ready to sacrifice his life for them.
