Foot/Liga:  Real Madrid suffered their first defeat of the season as they fell to Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid emerged victorious in the Madrid derby, handing Real Madrid their first defeat of the season. The match, which marked the 211th Madrid derby, took place at Wanda Metropolitano. Atletico wasted no time in challenging Real as Alvaro Morata scored a header in the 4th minute after a splendid cross from Lino. Morata found the back of the net as Kepa, the Real Madrid goalkeeper, was caught off guard.

With a boost of confidence from the early goal, Diego Simeone’s men secured a second goal with Antoine Griezmann heading in a perfect cross from Saul in the 18th minute.

Real Madrid found themselves dominated once again. Toni Kroos later reduced the deficit with a powerful right-footed half-volley in the 35th minute, making it 2-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Morata, a former Real Madrid player, scored his second goal of the match in the 46th minute with another well-placed header, taking advantage of a lapse in the Real defense.

Despite their efforts, Carlo Ancelotti’s team struggled to find a way past Atletico’s organized defense and resorted to long-range shots.

The match ended with a score of 3-1 in favor of Atletico Madrid, marking Real Madrid’s first loss of the season.

Real Madrid remains in third place with 15 points, while Atletico Madrid, with 10 points, now sits comfortably in the top 5 after this victory.
