Togo: New German and Turkish Ambassadors present their letters of Credence to Faure Gnassingbé

Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé received two new accredited diplomats to Togo on Tuesday. They are the Ambassador of Germany, Dr. Claudius Fischbach, and the Ambassador of Turkey, Muteber Kılıç. Both diplomatic representatives presented their letters of credence to the Head of State during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace, just a few days before the diplomatic season begins.

The German Ambassador, Dr. Claudius Fischbach, was the first to be received. He takes over from Matthias Veltin, who was accredited to Côte d’Ivoire.

In presenting his letters of credence, the new German diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the strong relations between his country and Togo.

He pledged to work towards strengthening this historical relationship to help achieve the goals of the Togolese government.

«Germany and Togo are particularly linked by history. I will contribute to strengthening this centuries-old cooperation to better meet the desires and hopes of the Togolese people and government», stated Dr. Claudius Fischbach.

Following the German Ambassador, the new Turkish representative in Togo also presented her credentials to President Faure Gnassingbé.

Having arrived in Togo a few weeks earlier, Muteber Kılıç discussed with the Head of State the high quality of the partnership between Ankara and Lomé.

In recent years, Turkey and Togo have enhanced their cooperation in diplomacy, culture, and business, as emphasized by Ms. Kılıç, who expressed her ambition to further consolidate this partnership.

«Turkey and Africa have been developing relations in all fields in recent years, and Togo, of course, holds a special place in these relations. The balance is positive, but we can do more. In this regard, we discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, and I am ready to do whatever is necessary to develop our relations with Togo», she affirmed.
