Burkina Faso/Security: Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ determined to free his country from terrorists
Since coming to power, the President of the transition, Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ, has shown an increased willingness and determination to fight the terrorist groups that sowed terror in Burkina Faso a decade ago.
To do this, all means are good, except cooperating with the wrong people like thieves, profiteers, imperialists or neo-colonialists.
In addition to the national strategy put in place, i.e. the mobilisation of Volunteers for the Defence of the homeland(VDP), the captain and his team are diversifying their military partnership.
These include Mali and Niger, with whom they signed an Alliance of Sahel States (AES) at the weekend, for collective defence and mutual assistance against jihadists in the Sahel, and Russia, which explains the presence, once again, of a delegation from the Russian military hierarchy in Ouagadougou.
They were here for an audience with the Head of State Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ and also for a working session with the Burkinabe military hierarchy, chaired by the Minister of State for Defence, Colonel Major Kassoum Coulibaly.
This shows the seriousness and interest that these two parties attach to Russo-Burkinabe military cooperation and also to the defence of Burkina Faso’s territory.
It should be noted that this cooperation particularly concerns the training of Burkina Faso’s military and support in terms of military equipment for a more effective fight against jihadists.
