Togo: The Togolese government under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé is committed to quality education
In the quest for quality education for all, the Togolese government, under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé, has taken bold steps to improve access to education. On Tuesday 3 October 2023, a significant step was taken in this direction, giving a glimpse of a brighter future for Togolese learners.
In a solemn ceremony, representatives of central government distributed desks and textbooks to all the country’s education regions. The initiative was applauded by local and administrative authorities, parents and partners involved in education.
A total of 8.700 table-benches, including 2.700 chairs and small tables for pre-school pupils, as well as an impressive batch of 1,113,120 mathematics and language and communication textbooks for CE1 and CE2 classes were handed over to Togo’s schools. This generous gesture was enthusiastically welcomed by those involved in Togo’s education system.
This initiative stems from the Head of State’s vision, which is part of the gradual implementation of the pupil/book ratio. The aim of this approach is to provide learners with the essential teaching tools they need to guarantee quality education at all levels.
The impact of this distribution goes far beyond the simple provision of educational materials. It also creates conditions that are conducive to learning and teaching, in line with Programmes 9 and 10 of the government’s 2020-2025 roadmap. In this way, schools become not only learning spaces, but also places where quality teaching can flourish.
With concrete actions such as this, the Togolese government under the leadership of President Faure Gnassingbé is demonstrating its unwavering determination to build a better future for future generations, by offering quality education to every Togolese child. This move towards educational excellence is a crucial step on the road to progress and prosperity for Togo.
