Burkina Faso/Iran: Eight cooperation agreements signed at the end of the first session of the Joint Commission

Tehran has signalled its willingness to support Ouagadougou in the fight against terrorism and neo-colonialism. To boost the Ouagadougou-Tehran axis, the first session of the Joint Cooperation Commission set the tone.

The Minister of Cooperatives, Labour and Social Welfare of the Islamic Republic of Iran, HE Sayed Solat MORTAZAVI, is in Ouagadougou to confirm the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

During the work of the Joint Committee, co-chaired by Mrs Olivia Rouamba and the Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the two parties (Burkina Faso and Iran) signed several agreements. In all, eight cooperation agreements were signed. These agreements cover several areas, including energy, town planning, higher education, town planning and construction.

The Burkina Faso government’s ambition is based on a comprehensive set of measures that take into account the strengths and weaknesses of the education system. The aim is to identify comprehensive and sustainable solutions. The cooperation agreement on the development of higher education, research and innovation and the agreement on technical and vocational education and training will enable Burkina Faso to meet the challenges in the field of education.

With regard to defence and security issues, Ouagadougou and Tehran have expressed their willingness to cooperate in these areas, and have decided to pursue consultations through more appropriate channels.
