International: India and Japan strengthen cybersecurity cooperation

India and Japan took a significant step forward in their cybersecurity partnership this Thursday. Following their 5th cyber-dialogue held in Tokyo, the two nations agreed to enhance their bilateral cooperation to ensure security in cyberspace.

During this strategic meeting, Indian and Japanese delegations unanimously acknowledged the crucial importance of building capacities in the field of cybersecurity.

A statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs specified that both parties expressed their commitment to work together towards this essential objective.

In addition to capacity-building, discussions centered on various aspects of bilateral cyber cooperation, including progress made in cybersecurity and information and communication technologies (ICT).

The 5G technology was particularly addressed, emphasizing the importance of its secure deployment.

The two countries also exchanged views on recent developments in cyberspace, while exploring opportunities for mutual cooperation within the United Nations and other multilateral and regional forums.

Among these is the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (QUAD) group, which provides a platform for discussing regional security issues.

This fruitful dialogue led to the announcement that the sixth India-Japan cyber-dialogue will take place in New Delhi in 2024.

It is evident that both countries are actively committed to collaborating in addressing the growing challenges of cybersecurity, while promoting a safer and more resilient global cyberspace.
