Burkina Faso: Another form of cooperation is emerging between Ouagadougou and Bamako

Burkina Faso and Mali are exploring avenues for judicial cooperation. The President of the Supreme Court of Mali, Dr Fatoma Thera was received by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré in order to lay the foundations of a partnership between the judicial institutions of the two countries.

Dr Fatoma Thera, present in Ougadougou as part of the reopening of the Burkinabe courts, believes that a meeting of the advisers of the Court of Cassation of Burkina and the advisors of the Supreme Court of Mali should be considered, in order to concretize this new cooperation. «This is the beginning of a partnership, a federation for the interests of our justice and our two peoples» he said.

According to him, this partnership should enable the two countries to effectively fight financial and economic delinquency, a challenge that is common to them. In this context, a federation of different initiatives for the benefit of Burkinabe and Malians is needed.

«They need security, and they really need their fundamental interests to be preserved» he said. For President Ibrahim Traoré, this new form of partnership reinforces his firm commitment to establish good governance and economic development in Faso.
