Burkina Faso advances practical education with school farm initiative
Under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All (IPEQ) continues its drive to transform the education system of Burkina Faso. The validation of the school farm manual, presided over by Dr Zakaria Soré, Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, reaffirms the commitment of the government to building a more practical, inclusive education grounded in the country’s realities.
This reform places significant emphasis on manual work and experiential learning.
The school farm becomes a genuine pedagogical space where students develop concrete skills in agriculture, fish farming, and environmental management.
By combining theory with practice, the initiative prepares a youth capable of contributing effectively to food sovereignty and national economic development.
Beyond its educational dimension, the school farm serves as a powerful socialisation tool.
It allows learners to discover agricultural trades through a new lens and dismantle prejudices often associated with the farming sector.

This immersion fosters the emergence of a generation aware of the opportunities offered by modern agriculture.
The participatory development of the manual, involving education stakeholders, religious organisations, and agricultural structures, demonstrates a collective and visionary approach.
Through this innovation, Burkina Faso is investing in its human capital and laying the foundations for sustainable development driven by a competent, responsible, and engaged youth.
