Togo and Burkina Faso strengthen strategic partnership to boost Lomé-Ouagadougou corridor

Togo and Burkina Faso have taken a new step forward in their strategic partnership. A high-level meeting was held late last week in Lomé to accelerate the flow of traffic along the corridor linking the Togolese capital to Ouagadougou.

Under the leadership of Presidents Faure Gnassingbé and Ibrahim Traoré, transport and logistics stakeholders worked on concrete solutions to enhance the efficiency of this vital regional axis.

Discussions identified measures aimed at reducing transit times and optimising costs for economic operators.

The Togolese government, under the enlightened vision of President Faure Gnassingbé, is multiplying initiatives to make Lomé a benchmark logistics hub. Burkina Faso, a long-standing brother and partner, is fully benefiting from this positive dynamic.

Among the options explored are increasing storage capacity at the port of Lomé, acquiring modern handling equipment, and simplifying administrative procedures.

The two governments are working hand in hand to remove obstacles and create an even more favourable environment for trade.

Improving the flow along the Lomé-Ouagadougou corridor benefits all of West Africa. It strengthens the competitiveness of both Togolese and Burkinabe economies, creates jobs, and improves living conditions for their populations.

Under the leadership of Presidents Ibrahim Traoré and Faure Gnassingbé, this project embodies successful South-South cooperation, built on trust and mutual respect.
