Burkina Faso / National reconquest: The self-sacrifice of the fighting forces, spearheading the liberation of Burkinabe territory
For several years, Burkina Faso has faced a bloody ordeal, seeing entire swathes of its territory consumed by terrorist obscurantism. Yet, at the start of this year, a wind of hope and national pride is blowing across the land of honest people. Thanks to the bravery and unwavering determination of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and their brothers-in-arms, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), the light is beginning to pierce the darkness.
The month of February 2024 will be etched in the annals as a pivotal period in the fight for the total reconquest of the territory.
With audacity rarely equalled, our fighting forces have intensified operations on several fronts, dealing severe blows to terrorist groups and, above all, regaining control of strategic localities, some of which had been lost for seven long years.
The names of Tongomayel, Béléhédé, and Pobé-Mengao now resonate as symbols of national resilience.
Abandoned since 2019, these areas had become sanctuaries for the enemies of peace. Recovering them was no small feat.
It took the courage of the young expeditionary companies, particularly those recently deployed in the Sahel region, to carry out daring operations deep within enemy territory.
These maneuvers, conducted under extreme conditions, gave rise to intense combat where our soldiers demonstrated heroism on a daily basis.
This significant progress is the result of immense sacrifices. Every square kilometer reconquered is watered with the blood of our valiant soldiers, those patriots who, at the risk of their lives, stand as a bulwark against barbarism.
Their self-sacrifice is total: they hold the front line, endure the fatigue of long patrols, and face the enemy with unwavering determination, driven by love for the motherland.
These resounding victories are much more than military successes; they are a message of hope addressed to all displaced populations who yearn to return to their homes.
They prove that when the nation mobilizes and its sons are ready to give everything, victory is possible.
To the Defense and Security Forces, to these young expeditionary companies who are the pride of the Sahel, we say thank you. Your bravery is the standard under which Burkina Faso rises again.
The road is still long, but with such warriors, animated by this sacred flame of the fatherland, the total reconquest of our territory is no longer a distant dream, but a reality in motion. The entire nation stands firmly behind you.
