Burkina Faso launches digital platform to archive progressive revolution

Burkinabe authorities officially inaugurated a new digital tool on Friday in the capital dedicated to preserving and disseminating archives related to the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP). Named “Burkina en Marche,” this initiative aims to structure the national narrative around the political and social transformations underway for several years.

The launch ceremony was jointly led by the ministers of Culture, Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, and Digital Transition, Dr. Aminata Zerbo/Sabane. The event brought together several communication officials from various public administrations.

In his speech, the Minister of Culture emphasized the importance for the country to own its own historical discourse.

He justified the creation of this digital archive by the need to document progress made within the framework of reforms initiated since 2022.

According to him, it is imperative that Burkinabe people themselves transmit the milestones of their collective journey, without delegating their interpretation to external actors.

Speaking in turn, the minister in charge of Digital described the platform as an essential lever for informational sovereignty.

In a global environment where misinformation circulates easily, “Burkina en Marche” aims to be a reliable reference, offering verified data on the country’s evolution.

The site’s technical architecture was designed to be compatible with contemporary technologies, including artificial intelligence systems, to improve the visibility of Burkinabe achievements internationally.

Designed to be inclusive, the platform is accessible from computers and mobile phones, even in areas with limited internet connection. To reach a broad and diverse audience, content is available in French, English, and several national languages, with audio versions to facilitate access for non-reading populations.

From a thematic perspective, “Burkina en Marche” covers a wide spectrum of government action.

Visitors can explore sections dedicated to education and training, major infrastructure projects, industrial development, territorial security, agricultural policies, and governance reforms.

This diversity reflects the desire of the authorities to present a panoramic vision of ongoing transformations, highlighting concrete and documented achievements.

With this initiative, Burkina Faso aims to lay the foundations for a collective digital memory while affirming its presence in the global digital ecosystem.

The portal is intended as a reference point for researchers, journalists, citizens, and anyone wishing to understand the country’s current dynamics through the lens of its progressive revolution.
