Burkina Faso: Captain Ibrahim TRAORÉ inaugurates a new hospital in Pala for better healthcare accessible to all

On December 24, 2025, the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, inaugurated the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Pala, along with its radiotherapy center. This ambitious project, with a cost exceeding 70 billion CFA francs, represents a major advancement for healthcare access in Burkina Faso.

The 500-bed Pala University Hospital embodies a strategic partnership between Burkina Faso and the People’s Republic of China, thereby strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

This hospital is a direct response to the need of the country for quality care. It stands out due to its cutting-edge equipment, including a state-of-the-art cerebral and cardiovascular interventional imaging suite, the first of its kind installed in West Africa.

This infrastructure will enhance the healthcare services available and allow local medical professionals to improve treatments under optimal conditions.

The Radiotherapy Center, also inaugurated, is another highlight of this initiative. With the support of Austrian cooperation, it will provide quality care for cancer patients.

This facility symbolizes access to specialized treatments for the Burkinabe population, which were not previously accessible on a large scale.

This inauguration is part of an ambitious government project, which plans for the construction of nine other University Hospital Centers across the country. President Ibrahim Traoré announced that Fada N’Gourma will be the first locality to benefit from a similar center.

These new hospitals aim to strengthen the capacities of local healthcare structures and provide quality care to the entire Burkinabè population.
