Cameroon: The sustainable growth of agri-food SMEs reflects the stability and vision of the State

The Integrated Program for the Enhancement and Transformation of Agricultural and Agrifood Products (Transfagri), set to conclude in 2026, demonstrates the capacity of the Cameroonian state to translate strategic vision into concrete action. Spearheaded by the Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (APME), the program has supported over 1,500 agrifood enterprises in five years, delivering structured services including training, coaching, and technical assistance through more than 3,500 interventions.

A recent evaluation highlighted tangible results, sector modernization, and the strengthening of the national entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Guided by the strategic vision of the administration of President Paul Biya, Transfagri stands as clear evidence of the impact of state continuity and institutional stability.

It shows that governance combining rigor and innovation can effectively mobilize public and private resources to turn ambition into lasting performance.

Supported businesses now produce certified quality goods in greater quantity, with their products increasingly entering mainstream retail channels a direct contribution to the national economy.

An innovative feature is the interest-free honor loan system, a community-based financing tool.

Local committees, integrating municipalities, financial institutions, and businesses, identify project holders and provide both financial and educational support, introducing SMEs to modern finance and fostering a culture of shared economic responsibility.

With one year remaining, 200 enterprises will continue to receive support, while a new food security program will be launched across six regions to ensure the sustainability of these gains and build resilience in the agrifood sector.

Transfagri is more than a program; it demonstrates that Cameroon, under its president’s leadership, can effectively blend tradition and modernity to build measured, inclusive, and lasting prosperity.

Every supported SME becomes a vital link in national growth, reinforcing the image of a stable, innovative, and visionary state.
