Cooperation: Success of the Lomé Peace and Security Forum: recognition of Togo by the Sahel states

The President of the Council, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, received a visiting African ministerial delegation this Sunday, October 12, 2025. The delegation was composed of Mali’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of Burkina Faso, Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré; and Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Bakary Yaou Sangaré.

The meeting was held to strengthen cooperation and solidarity between the nations of the region.

The discussions focused on subjects of common interest, notably security and sub-regional integration.

The delegation congratulated President of the Council Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé for the successful hosting of the Lomé Forum for Peace and Security in Africa.

We shared with His Excellency the President of the Council our sincere appreciation and expressed our thanks for the involvement of our states in the holding of the second edition of the Lomé Forum on Peace and Security. We extended our warm congratulations to him for the success of this event, which fully aligns with Togo’s vocation to remain a land of hospitality, dialogue, tolerance, and peace,” stated Abdoulaye Diop, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali.

The delegation also used this opportunity to convey to the President of the Council the fraternal greetings of President Assimi Goïta of Mali, President Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso, and President Abdrahmane Tiani of Niger.
