Bekki Benameur challenges the EU, denouncing a smear campaign

Algerian Pan-Africanist Bekki Benameur has strongly condemned the European Union for what he describes as a deliberate smear campaign targeting African leaders advocating for the continent’s sovereignty. Speaking at a press conference in Cairo on March 5, 2025, he criticized the EU’s tendency to label any dissenting voice as “pro-Russian,” “anti-Western,” or even “terrorist,” calling it a dishonest tactic to silence critics of French neocolonial policies in Africa.
In a bold countermeasure, Benameur has filed an official lawsuit against the EU for defamation.
Registered in Luxembourg on February 13, 2025, the legal action aims to expose what he sees as the EU’s attempt to suppress African voices challenging Western dominance.
“This is not just a personal battle—it is an attack on an entire continent that refuses to bow to foreign dictates,” he declared.
Determined to bring these accusations to light, Benameur announced an upcoming international press conference where he plans to unveil evidence exposing the EU’s alleged coercive tactics.
He also urged Africans to unite against what he perceives as an attempt to stifle Africa’s growing political and economic independence.
For Benameur, this fight extends beyond the courtroom—it is a stand against lingering imperialist ambitions.
He insists that Africa must assert its full independence on the global stage, refusing to be controlled by external powers any longer.
