UEMOA: Interparliamentary committee meets in Cotonou

The 38th session of the UEMOA Inter-Parliamentary Committee will take place from September 15 to 19, 2025, in Cotonou, under the leadership of the committee’s interim president. The session will focus on two key presentations delivered by experts from the UEMOA Commission.
The first will address the development and promotion of renewable energy within the union, examining both challenges and prospects.
The second will evaluate the implementation of free movement and establishment rights for liberal professionals across member states, highlighting progress and existing obstacles.
Beyond these presentations, parliamentarians will also assess the level of transposition of community directives by national delegations.
The Inter-Parliamentary Committee, a consultative body of UEMOA, comprises 40 parliamentarians five from each member state and is tasked with preparing the establishment of the future Parliament of the Union, thereby contributing to deeper regional integration.
