On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo embarked on a tour of several agro-sylvo-pastoral production sites in the Centre-Nord region. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to promoting food self-sufficiency and supporting communities engaged in these vital activities.
During his stop at Sector 6 in the city of Kaya, the Head of Government met with internally displaced persons (IDPs) who, alongside their host communities, are cultivating a three-hectare market garden.
He commended their efforts and encouraged them to continue this initiative, which not only fosters economic independence but also strengthens social cohesion among communities.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the Prime Minister to reaffirm the government’s dedication to supporting these producers through various assistance programs, particularly in terms of access to agricultural inputs and irrigation water.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude while also voicing concerns about improving their working conditions.
Agro-sylvo-pastoral production plays a pivotal role in Burkina Faso’s economic development.
By backing these initiatives, the authorities aim to enhance the resilience of communities in the face of climatic and economic challenges.
This approach is part of a broader effort to promote sustainable and inclusive agriculture, ensuring long-term benefits for the population.
