Burkina Faso: Deep borehole drilling to ensure sustainable access to water

President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, continues to prioritize the well-being of the Burkinabe people through concrete actions.

As part of this commitment, his Chief of Staff, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH, has launched the construction of deep borehole drilling in Souroukoudougou, within the commune of Bama.

This initiative, part of the Water Supply and Sanitation Program (PAEA), aims to improve access to clean water while collecting crucial scientific data for better management of the country’s water resources.

A total of sixteen structures will be built, including eight deep boreholes and eight piezometers.

These facilities, reaching depths of up to 1,000 meters with a minimum flow rate of 500 m³/h, represent a significant breakthrough in the study of the western region’s sedimentary aquifers.

As Environment Minister Roger Baro emphasized, these boreholes mark « a new era » in sustainable water resource management, a key priority in addressing climate change challenges.

This initiative once again reflects President Ibrahim Traoré’s determination to build a better future for the people of Burkina Faso.

By investing in research and optimizing the country’s natural resources, his government not only addresses the immediate needs of the population but also prepares for future challenges.

These efforts reaffirm his commitment to creating a resilient Burkina Faso where every citizen has fair access to essential resources.
