Tennis / Benin”Guepards” face historic Davis Cup challenge in Lithuania

The national tennis team of Benin is set for a historic appearance in the Davis Cup World Group II playoffs, facing Lithuania on September 13-14 at the SEB Arena in Vilnius. This marks a significant milestone for Beninese tennis, earned through a hard-fought 3-2 qualifying victory over Latvia in February.

The team’s success was spearheaded by Sylvestre Monou, who clinched the decisive match in a straight-sets triumph (6-3, 6-4) against Latvia’s Daniels Tens. His performance secured Benin’s place in the highest-level competition in the nation’s tennis history.

The upcoming tie in Vilnius represents Benin’s most significant international tennis encounter to date.

Competing against Lithuania an established nation in the sport poses a considerable challenge but also a chance to showcase the country’s growing talent on the global stage.
