Foot/ Mercato: Marcus Rashford awaits Barcelona’s decision as transfer deadline looms
As the winter transfer window progresses, Marcus Rashford’s future hangs in the balance. After being sidelined at Manchester United, the English forward is actively seeking a fresh challenge.
In December, Rashford expressed his desire for a new chapter, emphasizing that he harbors no ill will toward his current club. “When I leave, it will be without negativity. I’ve seen how others departed, and I don’t want to be that person,” he remarked.
Among the potential suitors for Rashford are top clubs like Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, PSG, AC Milan, and West Ham, alongside interest from Saudi Arabia and Galatasaray.
However, Rashford’s sights are firmly set on a move to La Liga, with FC Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.
Barcelona’s German coach, Hans-Dieter Flick, is reportedly a fan of the versatile attacker, envisioning him as a backup for Robert Lewandowski. Despite financial hurdles and internal doubts about Rashford’s consistency and off-field issues, Flick has greenlit the potential signing, which would likely take the form of a loan deal.
Rashford, however, has set a clear deadline. According to Catalan outlet Sport, he has given Barcelona until January 15 to finalize their decision.
The player is unwilling to wait indefinitely, fearing he might miss other opportunities.
With Manchester United reluctant to subsidize his significant wages, Barcelona faces a race against time to decide.
As the clock ticks down, Rashford’s future remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: the ball is in Barcelona’s court.
