Burkina Faso: Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, 72.70% of the national territory has been recaptured

In Burkina Faso, the ministerial performance evaluation process launched by Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo began on July 4, 2025, in Ouagadougou. The Minister of Defense, Célestin Simporé, was the first to take part, presenting the results of his performance contract for the first half of 2025. Beyond the overall implementation rate of 36.61%, it is the territorial recovery effort that stands out, with a historic rate of 72.70% of the territory reclaimed, compared to 70.89% in December 2024.
This tangible result is the outcome of a clear and determined strategic vision from President Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who has placed the restoration of territorial integrity at the core of his mission. Under his leadership, several structural reforms have been implemented in the defense and security sectors: reorganization of the armed forces, intensified recruitment, increased deployment of VDPs (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland), and the establishment of a decentralized operational command system.
Previously besieged areas such as the Sourou Valley, Diapaga, and Djibo are now experiencing signs of stabilization. The regular supply of goods to the population and the resumption of economic activities—including the revival of the Boungou mine—attest to the progressive return of state authority.
This regained territorial control is a strong indicator of the effectiveness of the national recovery strategy led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, which is rooted in a Pan-African, sovereignist, and people-centered approach. It reflects a vision of security reform grounded in local realities and driven by an uncompromising political will.
