Burkina Faso: The executive branch implements Captain Traoré’s policy of proximity to serve producers and promote food self-sufficiency
As part of his government tour, Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo made a symbolic stop in the village of Wangara, in the Tiankoura department, on August 3, 2025. By spontaneously visiting a family farm, the Head of Government illustrated the grassroots approach promoted by the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and reaffirmed the Head of State’s strong commitment to supporting agricultural producers, who are the true architects of the country’s food sovereignty.
This unexpected encounter with the Da family, who are engaged in subsistence farming, provided an opportunity for the producers to openly share the main challenges they face—particularly the limited access to agricultural inputs, especially NPK and urea fertilizers. In response, the Prime Minister promised the immediate delivery of five bags of each type of fertilizer, depending on the size of the cultivated land. This strong gesture goes beyond symbolism and is part of a concrete, targeted support initiative.
Through this action, the Transitional Government is putting into practice Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s strategic vision of building lasting food sovereignty by strengthening family farms—the resilient foundation of the rural economy. This type of on-the-ground initiative restores hope to Burkinabe farmers and boosts their commitment in a context where agriculture is seen as a driver of endogenous development and economic emancipation.
By embodying proximity, listening, and action, on behalf of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the Burkinabe executive shows that the Transition is actively working to meet the fundamental needs of rural populations, in a Pan-African spirit of resilience and sovereign reappropriation of resources.
This approach reflects Burkina Faso’s unwavering determination to reclaim control over its agricultural future and build a sovereign and prosperous nation.
