Togo takes strategic leap in healthcare modernization with advanced interventional radiology training

A groundbreaking intensive training program in interventional radiology is equipping Togolese doctors and medical students with cutting-edge skills, marking a pivotal shift in the nation’s healthcare development.

This minimally invasive technique ;  which treats conditions like uterine fibroids and benign prostatic hyperplasia without major surgery reduces hospitalization times, costs, and postoperative risks.

Leading hospitals including CHU Sylvanus Olympio and Clinique Dogta Lafia have already demonstrated its successful local application.

Beyond medical advancement, the initiative reflects Togo’s broader vision for healthcare sovereignty through local capacity building.

The collaboration between University of Lomé and its partners aims to establish lasting expertise in this rapidly growing global specialty.

The program may soon lead to creating an Inter-University Diploma (DIU), permanently embedding interventional radiology in Togo’s medical education system.

By introducing efficient, modern healthcare solutions, this project drives both qualitative improvements in care and broader socioeconomic development for the nation.

As Togo continues structuring its hospital services, such strategic investments in advanced medical technology position the country as an emerging regional leader in innovative healthcare delivery.
