Togo: President Faure Gnassingbé refuses to bow to Western pressures to destabilize the AES

President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo has distinguished himself as a committed leader serving Africa, refusing to succumb to external pressures aimed at manipulating his country for Western interests. Contrary to what some might think, Togo under the presidency of H.E. Faure Gnassingbé has not been a mere pawn in the destabilization strategies orchestrated by foreign powers like France through the European Union.

Refusal to Make Togo a Rear Base

During joint military maneuvers with the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) countries, Togo was reportedly solicited by France to serve as a rear base, a role that Faure Gnassingbé firmly rejected. This refusal demonstrates his commitment to preserving the sovereignty and integrity of his country while supporting his African neighbors in their fight for regional stability and security.

Attempts by France to turn Togo into a mole to infiltrate the internal dynamics of AES countries were also thwarted by the Togolese President. Faure Gnassingbé showed unwavering determination by rejecting any cooperation that could compromise the solidarity and security of allied African nations.

In response to these refusals, France, through the European Union, decided to suspend its military training aid to Togo. This suspension of aid is an attempt to pressure and punish Togo for its independence and resistance to foreign manipulations. However, this decision has only strengthened President Faure Gnassingbé’s resolve to pursue a sovereign and autonomous foreign and defense policy.

 A True African Leader

Faure Gnassingbé positions himself as a true African leader, determined to defend the interests of his country and Africa against foreign interference. His commitment to strong and independent African cooperation demonstrates his vision of a united Africa capable of solving its own challenges without relying on external powers.
