Morocco: The National beach soccer team qualifies for the 2024 CAN in Egypt

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced this Wednesday that the national beach soccer team has qualified for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in the discipline, scheduled for this summer in Egypt. This qualification follows the withdrawal of Angola, Morocco’s opponent during the qualifiers.

Initially, the Atlas Lions were to face Angola in two legs, the first set to take place from July 19 to 21 and the second from July 26 to 28. However, with Angola’s withdrawal, Morocco automatically secures its ticket to the final phase of the competition.

The 2024 CAN of beach soccer will bring together eight national teams in Egypt. The previous edition, organized in 2022 in Mozambique, saw Senegal triumph, clinching its fourth consecutive continental title.

This qualification represents a major opportunity for the Moroccan team to compete against the best teams on the continent and aim for their first continental title in this rapidly expanding discipline. Beach soccer, with its fast and spectacular format, is gaining popularity and attracting more and more fans worldwide.

Participation in the 2024 CAN in Egypt is also an opportunity for Morocco to showcase the progress and potential of its beach soccer program, building on the successes and experience accumulated over the years.
