Burkina Faso / The French media’s obsession with Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s regime: A reaction against the country’s sovereignty?

Since Captain Ibrahim Traoré came to power, Burkina Faso has been the target of an intense media campaign orchestrated by French media such as RFI, France 24, Le Monde, TV5 Monde, and Jeune Afrique. This campaign is characterized by the dissemination of false information aimed at discrediting President Ibrahim Traoré and destabilizing Burkina Faso.

This media offensive is explained by several decisions made in the best interests of the Burkinabe people by President Traoré, which have deeply upset French interests and local collaborators who were plundering the country without remorse.

One of Traoré’s first measures was to request the departure of the French army from Burkina Faso. By expelling the French military advisors and the French ambassador, Captain Ibrahim Traoré asserted his country’s independence and sovereignty. This break with French imperialist traditions also included the expulsion of French diplomats and the UN resident representative, symbolizing a clear rejection of external influences.

Economically, President Ibrahim Traoré made bold decisions by terminating contracts with French companies and nationalizing several firms. He also denounced the colonial-era double taxation agreement, which disadvantaged Burkina Faso. These measures disrupted French economic interests, which were accustomed to exploiting the country’s resources to their advantage.

In parallel, President Traoré closed the French cultural center and suspended French media outlets such as RFI, France 24, TV5 Monde, and Le Monde. These media outlets were immersed in propaganda and distorted the reality of Burkina Faso, and were removed to preserve national stability and sovereignty.

President Ibrahim Traoré’s actions, focused on the interests of the Burkinabe people, have not only challenged external powers but also ended decades of plundering by local collaborators and France.

The reaction of the French media seems to be an attempt to maintain their influence and support French interests in Burkina Faso. Their relentless publication of information only strengthens President Traoré’s determination to protect and promote his country’s interests.
