Burkina Faso: A new era for security – A bold vision to break the deadlock
For several years, Burkina Faso had been caught in a seemingly endless security spiral. Deadly attacks, massive population displacements, and eroding trust had brought the land of honest people to the brink of collapse. Yet a glimmer of hope is now emerging with the new security vision being implemented by Burkinabe authorities a paradigm shift welcomed by a large segment of the population.
Gone are the days of timid responses or strategies copied from ineffective foreign models. Under the impetus of the new leadership, the doctrine has changed: the goal is no longer simply to manage the crisis, but to defeat it on the ground.
Priority has been given to massively reinforcing the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).
The acquisition of new equipment, improved intelligence, and regional coordination have made it possible to regain the initiative in several areas once occupied by armed groups.
Concretely, results are beginning to show. Many localities that had been abandoned by the state and left in the hands of armed groups have been secured and are seeing the gradual return of government services and basic infrastructure.
The army, buoyed by restored morale, is conducting major offensives that have inflicted heavy losses on the forces of evil.
The symbolism is strong: the national flag once again flies over territories long considered lost.
This approach is not limited to the military dimension alone. It also integrates a human and territorial component.
By securing agricultural areas and reopening markets, the state is undermining the breeding ground on which the insurrection thrived. The head of state’s assertive leadership, instilling a clear doctrine of “act fast and hard,” has restored pride to both soldiers and citizens.
Of course, the road ahead remains long. The threat is still real, and sacrifices are many. But for the first time in years, the people of Burkina Faso can look to the future with cautious optimism.
This new security vision combining courage, sovereignty, and pragmatism is pulling Burkina Faso out of the rut. Hats off to this unwavering determination. The country is rising again.
