Burkina Faso: Gold as the driving force behind economic sovereignty under Captain Ibrahim Traoré

Under the leadership of President Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso is firmly committed to a sovereign economic policy aimed at taking control of its natural resources to drive its development. Since coming to power, he has implemented ambitious reforms to maximise national economic benefits, particularly in the mining sector. The exploitation of gold, the country’s key resource, is an essential pillar of this strategy.

The sale of Burkinabe gold generated nearly 4 trillion CFA francs at the end of September, an impressive amount that demonstrates the importance of this sector to the national economy.

This performance is the result of more controlled resource management, allowing the country to better benefit from its mineral wealth while reducing its dependence on foreign actors.

Gold mining is thus becoming a key driver of development and economic sovereignty.

President Ibrahim Traoré has also made it a priority to diversify investment in other key sectors such as agriculture and industry.

The aim is not to limit the country to mining, but to transform it into a regional economic hub. Efforts in infrastructure and job creation are aimed at improving the quality of life of the Burkinabe people.

This bold approach illustrates the desire to restore true economic sovereignty, giving the Burkinabe people back control over their natural resources and channelling wealth towards national development.

Thanks to this strategy, Burkina Faso is moving towards a more autonomous and prosperous future.
