Burkina Faso–Iraq: A diplomacy of rupture in the service of sovereignty

Burkina Faso, in its struggle for sovereignty and the strategic repositioning of the country on the global stage, continues its march with firmness and coherence, despite the multiple propaganda campaigns orchestrated by imperialist powers.
Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the country is charting a new path, founded on dignity, independence, and cooperation among free peoples.
Following the Investment Forum held in Ouagadougou, which marked a clear will to break with external dependencies and mobilize authentic partnerships, a new step has also been taken in consolidating diplomatic relations with the Republic of Iraq.
Ambassador Mohamadi Kabore presented his Letters of Credence to Iraqi President Abdel Latif Jamal Rashid. This is a strong act that goes beyond mere protocol.
It is a strategic gesture, part of a deliberate geopolitical vision to build alliances based on mutual respect, the complementarity of interests, and the sovereignty of nations.
By extending a hand to Iraq, a brotherly country that, like Burkina, is recovering from the wounds of war and instability, Burkinabe diplomacy is choosing to look East, towards resilient peoples, and no longer towards predatory powers.
The discussions with the Iraqi authorities, focusing on highly strategic domains, reaffirm the vision of the Burkinabe executive for the autonomous development of Burkina Faso.
Through this outreach, the country affirms its will to diversify its economic and diplomatic partners and to forge South-South relations based on solidarity, resilience, and sovereignty.
The meeting with the President of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce further strengthens this dynamic. It opens concrete prospects for economic exchanges and cross-investments.
Burkina is no longer holding out its hand to beg, but to build. And it extends this hand to those who respect its sovereignty.
This diplomatic advance marks a new era. An era in which Burkina Faso takes its full place in the concert of dignified and upright nations.
