Burkina Faso: Mobile police station, a security innovation that strengthens police action in the service of the people

Burkina Faso has taken a major step forward in modernising its security administration with the launch of its first ever mobile police station, an initiative hailed as a first for the country known as the Land of Honest People.
This innovative scheme, spearheaded by Inspector General of Police Thierry Tuina, embodies a bold reform aimed at bringing security services closer to citizens, particularly those living in remote or densely populated urban areas, in line with Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s security policy.
This mobile police station offers the same services as a traditional police station: issuing identity documents, legalising documents, assisting victims, motorised patrols, gathering intelligence, raising awareness and providing a deterrent presence.
It thus meets the practical needs of the population while enhancing the visibility and effectiveness of police action.
In a context marked by rising crime in both urban and rural areas, this strategic and operational innovation reflects a clear desire to adapt the security ecosystem to the realities on the ground.
It is in line with the vision of the President of Burkina Faso, who advocates for local, accessible and responsive security.
This reform demonstrates the government’s commitment to making the administration more efficient and closer to citizens.
It deserves to be welcomed and encouraged, as it paves the way for a new era of secure governance based on listening, mobility and efficiency.
