Burkina Faso/Mali: H.E. Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo received by President Assimi Goïta in Bamako

As part of his goodwill visit to Mali, the Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, His Excellency Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, was received in audience on Thursday, 21 August 2025, by the President of the Transition, Head of State of Mali, Army General Assimi Goïta. This meeting reflects the vitality and strength of the fraternal relations between the two member countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The Head of the Burkinabe Government was accompanied by a large delegation including the Minister of State, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, as well as the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Mali.
The composition of this delegation illustrates the diversity of strategic issues at the heart of this visit.
During the audience, the two leaders discussed topics of mutual interest, including security cooperation in the face of the challenges of terrorism, the pooling of defence resources, but also the strengthening of economic exchanges and support for public policies in favour of youth and employment. These discussions are in line with the commitments made by the leaders of the AES.
The meeting between the Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo of Burkina Faso and the President of Mali also highlighted their shared desire to strengthen the institutional and diplomatic framework that unites Ouagadougou and Bamako.
