Burkina Faso: Ouagadougou strengthens its military autonomy according to PM Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo

During his address on the state of the nation, Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, highlighted the remarkable strides made by the national army in achieving military self-sufficiency. He emphasized that the Burkinabe Armed Forces have now developed proven expertise in maintaining, refurbishing, and even manufacturing military equipment and hardware.

This breakthrough marks a significant departure from the past, when Burkina Faso was forced to import even basic weaponry under highly challenging conditions.

The Prime Minister criticized the deliberate barriers imposed by certain imperialist powers and their allies, which hindered the country’s access to essential defense resources.

Through the unwavering political will of President Ibrahim Traoré and strategic investments, the Burkinabe military has now established its own industrial capabilities in arms production.

 This advancement not only reduces reliance on foreign suppliers but also strengthens national sovereignty in the face of ongoing security challenges.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the country’s defense and security forces, equipping them to better confront threats such as terrorism.

The ability to produce military equipment locally also provides a significant logistical advantage, ensuring greater operational efficiency and responsiveness in the field.
