Burkina Faso: Significant progress made on the security front

In Burkina Faso, several localities and municipalities have faced devastating terrorist attacks, displacing thousands of people internally. Since President Ibrahim Traoré came to power, numerous mechanisms and initiatives have been implemented to combat terrorist groups and restore peace and security in affected areas.

In 2024, a relentless campaign against insecurity and terrorism led to the liberation and stabilization of 697 localities, enabling displaced populations to return home.

These achievements were made possible by the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and their property.

To achieve this, several measures were taken, including the recruitment of new agents and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the acquisition of advanced equipment, and the modernization of infrastructure.

These efforts have significantly strengthened the nation’s capacity to respond to security threats.

The offensives carried out in 2024 yielded impressive results, with a 94% physical execution rate and a 75% financial execution rate, compared to 84% and 55% respectively in 2023.

These outcomes have also helped shape the sector’s contribution to the national development policy for 2026-2030, aimed at ensuring long-term stability and sustainable development.

Under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Burkina Faso has seen notable improvements in governance and security.

With the active involvement of citizens in maintaining peace and stability, the country is on track to achieve its transformative goals and build a safer, more prosperous future.
