President Félix Tshisekedi remains resolutely committed to the quest for lasting peace in the Great Lakes region. He recently chaired a strategic meeting on the security situation in the east of the DRC, where tensions persist.
The aim was to assess ongoing military operations and examine the humanitarian challenges affecting local populations, particularly in the provinces of North and South Kivu.
At the meeting, particular attention was paid to the threat posed by the Rwandan-backed AFC-M23 terrorists. The Congolese armed forces, supported by the courageous Wazalendo fighters, continue to defend their territory with determination.
Despite enemy attacks, the Congolese army is maintaining its control and working to further secure high-risk areas.
It has been confirmed that the town of Bukavu, which was briefly overrun by M23 rebels, is now under the full control of loyalist forces.
This event underlines the determination of the Congolese government to defend the integrity of the country and ensure the security of its citizens in the face of external threats.
