Alliance of Sahel States/ President Assimi GOÏTA hosts AES Ministers to advance Sahel development Agenda

On Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Bamako, the President of the Transition, General Assimi GOÏTA, welcomed ministers of the Sahel States Alliance (AES) alongside their Malian counterparts responsible for development issues.

The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by AES ministers and experts to implement the roadmap adopted last June in Niamey.

This strategic framework focuses on three key pillars: Defense, Diplomacy, and Development, with a strong emphasis on tangible actions to improve the livelihoods of Sahelian populations.

During the discussions, General GOÏTA reaffirmed his commitment to driving structural transformation across the region.

Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy, Aboubacar NACANABO, commended the Malian leader’s clear directives aimed at expediting initiatives for sustainable and inclusive growth.

We are now committed to shaping a clear vision and setting ambitious goals to invigorate the socio-economic development of the Sahel region,” he stated.

This dialogue represents a pivotal step in realizing the AES’s goals. By rallying experts and policymakers, the Alliance underscores its determination to turn the Sahel’s challenges into lasting opportunities, laying the groundwork for shared prosperity across the region.
