Niger Qualifies for CHAN 2024 After draw against Togo
The Nigerien national team, Mena A’, has secured its place in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). A goalless draw (0-0) against Togo in Bamako on Friday evening was enough for Niger to advance, thanks to their away goal in the first leg of the qualifier (1-1) in Lomé.
The crucial away goal proved decisive in this tightly contested encounter, with both teams showing resilience and determination. Despite several opportunities during the second leg, neither side managed to break the deadlock.
With this qualification, Niger joins the elite teams preparing for the CHAN tournament, which exclusively features players competing in their domestic leagues.
The final competition will take place from February 1 to 28, 2025, and will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
This marks an important achievement for Niger, which continues to solidify its presence in African football. The Mena A’ will aim to make a significant impact in the tournament, representing West Africa on the continental stage.
For Togo, the elimination marks the end of their journey this year, despite a commendable effort during the qualifiers.
